The Story
The details within Fractal States of Water are formed from years of obsessive thought. This fascination stemmed from my time as a meteorologist, fine-artist and digital content creator. I have noticed patterns that repeat infinitely through both micro and macro levels, Fractals. Observations of these forms have revealed self-similarity between rivers, blood vessels, trees, lungs, lightning, cracks, and so forth. It is compelling to me how galaxies look like hurricanes that mimic the spiraling in one's coffee. In this case, the geometric pattern of this painting arranges numerous water capabilities side by side.
Afterwords
I invite the viewer to think about the time-travels of a single droplet that transforms from solid to liquid to gas. From thunderstorm to snowflake, water can soothe or destroy. It can provide us with electric energy, drive weather patterns and is the majority of our composition as biological beings. As you look at this painting, think about how our own life represents the droplet. Together, we are the ocean, snow, and steam that can power a locomotive. This relation reveals the earth is in fact one interconnected living macrocosm. Perhaps the same droplet of water that you shed as a tear was once consumed by some ancient creature or part of the rushing waters that formed the canyons of the earth.
