About

The path of totality is mind-bending. Seeing the moon pass between the earth and sun transported me through time. I thought of ancient civilizations watching past eclipses. Colorful shapes encircle the composition and point to the center. Some marks are reminiscent of layered ancient language. It could be a closeup of an eye or perhaps a clock. Center is an ancient god. A bat hangs from its left hand. Coronavirus spores float above. This side represents plague. On the other hand, a snake is a symbol of health. Flowers tell of ephemeral existence. Bees are love, pollination and procreation. The ear is the importance of listening. Path of Totality is an attempt to connect the viewer to transcendent historical events within our place in time.

I felt a strong magnetic force pulling me that I can’t explain. In the summer of 2017, I impulsively traveled 500 miles to witness one of nature’s most awe inspiring sights. The path of totality from a solar eclipse is mind-bending. The sun's normally ambiguous atmosphere emerges in a magnificent dance of light and energy. Day quite literally turns to night and you can see the stars above you. 360 degrees of sunset surround you on the horizon. Animals panic and the temperature plummets. It was such a powerful experience I wept.
